Jamshedpur, October 28, 2016: The IFAD team today visited Seraikella to take stock of the ground level implementation of Jharkhand Adivasi Empowerment and Livelihood Project. The team looked very happy and satisfied at the ground level implementation of the scheme and its impact.The IFAD team visited one village in Itakudar panchayat and two villages in Rajnagar block during its visit. In Itakudar panchayat of Seraikella block the team visited Bundu village, while the team also proceeded to visit two more villages in Rajnagar block. The team comprised of Rasha Omar, country head of IFAD, Mrs Suchitra Sinha, State Programme Director of JTDS cum TRI director and Mr. Manoj Sinha, APD, JTDS.
In Bundu village of Itakudar panchayat in Seraikella district, the IFAD team held a meeting with the Gram Sabha, PEC, Youth Groups and Self-help Groups and sought information about the jobs done under Jharkhand Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Project.
A large number of villagers had gathered to accord a warm welcome to the visiting team. The enthusiastic villagers welcomed them in traditional manner with dhols and nagadas.
It may be mentioned here that Jharkhand Tribal Empowerment and Livelihood Project is being implemented in 65 villages of five panchayats of Seraikella block with the help of social organization Youth Unity For Voluntary Action (YUVA).
Under this scheme being implemented with the help of Yuva, different community based organizations e.g. Gram sabhas, PECs, Youth Groups and Self-help Groups are being formed and tribals are thereby being empowered. Under land and water management plan, ponds, irrigation nullahs, irrigation wells and dobhas etc are being constructed.
Besides these, goatery, piggery, poultry, SRI method paddy production etc are also being encouraged.
The country head of IFAD, Rasha Omar also planted a sapling on the occasion.
